Summer Youth Employment Program

The summer component of the Connecticut Youth Employment Program (CYEP) offers young people ages 14-24 a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience while earning income during their summer break. This program connects participants with local employers to provide meaningful, hands-on job placements in various fields, including education, healthcare, construction, and more.
 
Through the summer program, participants will:

Only applications submitted through nrwib.digicon.com will be accepted! Make sure they are complete, with all appropriate documents uploaded. If you do not complete the application, you will not be eligible to participate!

ONLY DIGITAL APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR APPLICANTS.
 
Follow all instructions carefully, including uploading the correct documents. If you do not upload the proper documents, your application will be considered incomplete, therefore you will not be considered for the program. Not every applicant will be picked to participate in the program. If you were in the program last year, you will have to apply again.
 
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO APPLY:
  • Copy of Most Recent Report Card (or Power School screenshot with name and date)
  • Copy of Proof of Residency (a piece of mail or a school document - such as your report card addressed to you at your home)
  • Copy of Social Security Card
  • Copy of Photo ID, Birth Certificate or passport

    • Complete the Enrollment Form: Interested employers can start by filling out the CYEP employer enrollment form available on our website or by contacting the NRWIB directly.
    • Submit Job Descriptions: Employers should provide details about the available positions, including job descriptions, required skills, and hours of operation.
    • Review and Approval: Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the CYEP team to ensure alignment with the program’s goals and participant needs.
  3. Training and Support: After enrollment, employers will receive guidance on best practices for mentoring and supporting youth employees, ensuring a successful experience for both parties.
  4. Workplace Partnership: By partnering with CYEP, employers will have access to a motivated and diverse pool of young talent eager to learn and contribute to the workplace.

CYEP Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility Requirements for CYEP
To participate in the Connecticut Youth Employment Program (CYEP), applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • Age: Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 21 at the time of application.
  • Residency: Participants must be residents of Northwest Connecticut, living in our service region.
  • Meet Low-Income Eligibility: Documentation of income may be required.
  • Education Status: Youth who are currently enrolled in school or have recently dropped out are eligible to apply. Those who have completed their education (e.g., high school diploma or GED) are also welcome.
  • Work Authorization: Participants must have the legal right to work in the United States. This may include having a Social Security number or appropriate work permits for minors.
  • Availability: Youth must be available to work during the program’s scheduled hours, including summer employment opportunities.
