Guide

WIOA Youth Program

The Workforce Pathways for Youth (WPY) program expands job training and workforce activities for youth, including soft-skill development, career exploration, job readiness and certification, summer jobs, year-round job opportunities and apprenticeships in out-of-school time organizations nationwide. The program allows out-of-school time organizations to partner with local workforce boards and youth-serving organizations, bridging the gap between their existing activities and the need to expose youth to career-related services to better prepare them to enter the workforce.

Under Title I of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, formula funds are provided to states and outlying areas, states in turn provide local workforce areas resources to deliver a comprehensive array of youth services that focus on assisting out-of-school youth and in-school youth with one or more barriers to employment prepare for post-secondary education and employment opportunities, attain educational and/or skills training credentials, and secure employment with career/promotional opportunities.

Summer Youth Employment Program

The Summer Youth Employment Program links Northwest Youth (14-24) to local employers for 5 to 6 weeks. The program offers local youth connections to professional networks, valuable youth experiences and a chance to earn a paycheck. The application opens February 12, 2024 and closes May 31, 2024. The program begins July 1, 2024.

Youth have an opportunity to explore career interests and businesses have an opportunity to shape the future workforce in their community. For youth they're able to collect a paycheck, for businesses they have an extra set of hands paid for by our funding.

There are only a certain number of slots available to youth and businesses. Space is limited.

Only applications submitted through nrwib.digicon.com will be accepted! Make sure they are complete, with all appropriate documents uploaded. If you do not complete the application, you will not be eligible to participate!
