NRWIB Healthcare Regional Sector Partnership Launch was on Thursday, March 31st at Naugatuck Valley Community College Founders Hall
The morning of Thursday, March 31st began for many of the Northwest region’s healthcare industry leaders a little differently – a space to talk about the big issues they have faced over many years. Problems that existed before the pandemic, that worsened due to the pandemic, and a new set of issues they face as we continue to regroup during this new era. C-suite Executives and Representatives of healthcare staff came together to have an honest discussion about their concerns and what they might be able to do to solve these problems.
John Melville, who leads these discussions on a nationwide scale, facilitated the conversation in collaboration with the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board. Senior Consultant and Board Director to INC and CEO of Collaborative Economics, John Melville is a national leader in the design and practice of next generation industry engagement. John opened the floor to representatives and executives from the far Northwest corner like North Canaan and Torrington then all the way down to Waterbury and Danbury.
The goal of the collaboration is clear – alleviate staffing shortages, standardize care, and create a network of information accessible to anyone who needs it. Together, this group of forty, agreed they can make a difference in the hiring process, partnering with education to reach our youth and address other gaps in the healthcare sector. Some barriers that have always been present are transportation to rural areas, senior care, addiction, and mental health services, just to name a few. The effort on the part of these professionals has the potential to achieve success like other like-minded partnerships that are currently taking place in Seattle, WA and Phoenix, AZ.
The future of healthcare in our region is bright, and full of people who want to change it for the better. The group plans to meet again in the next 45 days to cement a plan of action and implement strategies that can begin to shape care for the better.
“It was your participation and input about today’s critical healthcare needs that really drove the meeting. Without you, this event would not have been such an enormous success. Your voice as our region’s leading healthcare executives will be the force that drives change for the industry. We were honored to gather you all at the table and were happy see everyone discuss and relate their concerns on common ground,” Ana Goncalves, NRWIB.
