Program Details
The EPA Brownfields Job Training Grants allow nonprofits, local governments, and other organizations to recruit, train, and place unemployed and under-employed residents of areas affected by the presence of brownfield sites. Through the NRWIB’s Brownfields Job Training Program, graduates develop the skills needed to secure full-time, sustainable employment in various aspects of hazardous substances, pollutants, and contaminants within the larger environmental field. These green jobs reduce environmental contamination and build more sustainable futures for communities.
This training program is available to residents in the Northwest Regional Area. The training offered under this program is a 40 hour-per-week, 4-week curriculum of instruction in the following:
- OSHA / EPA laws and regulations;
- OSHA Hazwoper Training
- Confined space entry
- Safety awareness in work environment
- Personal protective equipment and respirators
- Lead and asbestos abatement
- Lead renovation, repair and painting training
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a GED with a 9th grade reading level, or have a high school diploma
- Have a birth certificate and social security card
- Be able to lift 40lbs, pass drug test and physical
- Have a valid CT driver's license and reliable transportation
