The American Job Center and staff have resources past the internet to get you started!
Looking for work is tedious. We may have all filled out 20+ pages of online job applications, interviewed once (maybe twice), updated our LinkedIn, made every effort we can to “land the job” only to receive a call back with some bad news. Sometimes you need more help, but don’t know where to turn. Our staff at the American Job Center can not only help with your job search efforts but point you in the right direction if you feel you’ve exhausted all your efforts. It might be signing up for a workshop, applying for training or meeting one on one with a career navigator.
One great way to start is using CTHires.com. Pam Collins, Career Navigator, finds the site extremely helpful when you’re looking for labor market information, building a resume and finding new job postings. She suggests that those looking for work start there, as the information is local to your settings, and it features a resume builder. This can help align your thoughts and order your former positions that make it easy for a potential employer to see your strengths and common goals.
While it is ultimately up to you to do the heavy lifting, we hope you find comfort in knowing there are resources available through your local American Job Center to help you along the way!
